our life here in Utah

When you open up Anderson Planet it says under the logo "our crazy world". Sadly, that is exactly right at this point in life. Living in a relatives house has it's fun times, but also has some disadvantages. I'm ready for a place to live but it might not be any time soon. I hope it's soon.

Beaver High Adventure Base

A couple weeks ago, I went to a camp for four days up in Utah. My whole teachers quorum was accompanied by the First Councilor in the Bishopric, and Enoch, an 18 year old about to leave on his mission. The drive was long, but fun. There was one part that it was storming so hard we probably should have stopped, but we didn't. We drove on even though we could barely see 100 feet, and we're all okay. On the way up, I got challenged to finish Harry Potter:The Deathly Hallows by the time we got back(I did it easily). Once we got there, Brother Bodily(The First Councilor) accidentally got the car stuck on a stump. We ended up having 5 or 6 people(including me) have to lift up and push the car back. Then we found out that we got there with perfect timing. If we had been much earlier, we would of had to set up in rain, and had to do the same if we had been much later. I shared a tent with a now priest(barely) and the youngest teachers(including me).

Day 2:
High and low ropes course today. I'd say the Tempe South Stake is a pretty good team. At least the part I went with was. Just like in life, the rope course required trust, strength(mental, emotional, and physical), teamwork, and planning/strategy. The youngest teacher moved to another tent.

Day 3:
Today we did a hike. I hiked straight up a mountain, heading directly towards a snow patch. It was really hard, and took determination to succeed. Snow definitely should not exist in the middle of July. At night we played capture the flag. It was too dark and no flashlights, which caused a couple of people to get hurt. My team lost.

Day 4: On the day before we left, we started out with climbing and rappelling. Though I did not finish any of the climbing courses, and only rappelled once, it was really fun and I expanded my abilities. Then we went to cove fort. a LDS history site. This was a place for people to come to for rest and protection. I thought it was really cool and worth missing a bit of climbing and rappelling. Then we came back, and I with Enoch won a horseshoe tournament. Then we had a Camp Fireside, in which we pretty much did a flag burning ceremony. I am so glad to live in this wonderful, free country, even though it has its faults. A poem was read that I liked, so..."Ragged Old Flag"

I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin' there.
I said, "Your old court house is kinda run down,
He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town".
I said, "Your old flag pole is leaned a little bit,
And that's a ragged old flag you got hangin' on it".
He said, "Have a seat", and I sat down,
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town"
I said, "I think it is"
He said "I don't like to brag, but we're kinda proud of
That Ragged Old Flag

"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there,
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
and It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it,
writing "Say Can You See"
It got a rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson
tugging at its seams.
and It almost fell at the Alamo
beside the Texas flag,
But she waved on though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville,
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on
That Ragged Old Flag

"On Flanders Field in World War I,
She got a big hole from a Bertha Gun,
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp, and low, a time or two,
She was in Korea, Vietnam, She went where she was sent
by her Uncle Sam.
She waved from our ships upon the briny foam
and now they've about quit wavin' back here at home
in her own good land here She's been abused,
She's been burned, dishonored, denied an' refused,
And the government for which she stands
Has been scandalized throughout out the land.
And she's getting thread bare, and she's wearin' thin,
But she's in good shape, for the shape she's in.
Cause she's been through the fire before
and i believe she can take a whole lot more.

"So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night,
We don't let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.
On second thought
I *do* like to brag
Cause I'm mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag"
-Johnny Cash

I'm thankful for the soldiers that protect our freedom.

Drive back:
Long. Fun. Finished HP. Learned a word in Japanese-pronounced Key-pu, means ticket. I had fun and am really glad I went.

Getting sealed in the temple

A couple months ago I got sealed to my family in the Gilbert Temple. IT was a great experience and I'm glad that we can be together

Yesterday I got back from a 10 day vacation. On vacation we did a lot of things, like playing tag and pool at the reunion and going to BYU and the Bean Museum. We played a lot of things at the family reunion with lots of movies and games. I got second place in poker and in the ping-pong tournament. On the last day of the reunion we all had an assignment to clean up . Our family had to vacuum all of the lower floor. I had to vacuum a lot of the lower floor which was the most boring part of the reunion. After that we went back to the Russons' House . Brooke was there when we got there for her soccer camp. The rest of the day we chilled out and talked for the rest of the day. The next day I slept in 'til 1:15 PM so we really didn't do anything. My parents were at the temple when I woke up and didn't get back for a while. The next day we did a lot because it was my dad's birthday. First we went to my Aunt Annette's and had waffles, then we played laser tag which I suck at with 12th place twice in a row. Next we had lunch at Burger Supreme, last We went to go disc golf at a park where I ended up going to urgent care after.

10 days of vacation

We've been on vacation since a week from last Friday. We woke up at 4:45 am to leave. We got to the Russon's house at about 12 hours later. Amelia loves seeing Bree, and had been talking about going to Ootah to see Bree and Friendly Tigers who won't bite her. We went to the Bean's Museum(A BYU museum with stuffed animal skins) the next day. There Amelia saw a stuffed tiger, thus making that the Friendly Tiger that doesn't bite her. She and Bree walked around holding hands, which was really cute. On Sunday, I accidentally went to the class below mine instead of mine. I'm glad that we went to all three hours of church. We went and played at the park, which was fun. Monday was when we went to the Jensen Family Reunion. I was glad to see Brynja for the second time this year(Since we celebrated her birthday/New Years Eve together), since I don't normally see her that often. We enjoyed playing games together with the family we don't normally get to see. One of the days for the evening devotional, the entire family was gathered together for it, Aunt Carey asked me experiences I've had in the temple. I had just been impressed on how much I love all my family, and how glad I am to be able to see them, and how much I don't want to lose them. I am so glad that I've been sealed to them all of them indirectly. Aunt Carey mentioned on how they were like my own personal helpers to become the best I could be, which makes me think of the Children's song "The Family is of God". I'm so happy I was able to grow closer to my extended family. The worst part of that family reunion was having to say goodbye at the end of it on Thursday. We went back to the Russon's house, where we got to see Brooke as well as the Russons. On Friday we watched the girls so that Mom and Dad could go to the temple. We didn't really do much that day, but we did stay up late and played XBox, which was fun. The next was my dad's birthday. We went to my Great Aunt Annette's house for waffles, and Aunt Annette watched the girls as we went and played laser tag, which I loved. We went to a restaurant, ate a little more than our fill, and then went home to rest. We went disc golf, which was when Xander climbed a barbed wire fence to retrieve his disc. The only reason he got cut was because right after dad said "Now don't just dropped down", he dd exactly that. Urgent care visit. After we had pizza for BDay dinner, I helped try to get Amelia to sleep, which took until about midnight, and then ate some Pizookie. On Sunday we went for the first two hours of Grandpa Ross's church, then home. Played Halo for a bit(Which I am way better at than my brothers). Went to the canyon and roasted hot dogs and made S'mores. When we got home, we played a family soccer game, which the teams were supposed to be Brooke, Dad, and I against Max, Uncle Bryce, and Aunt Stes. But I'm not quite sure what team Max was playing for. We had a really enjoyable time, despite hardly being able to see the ball. Then we had to pack, and say goodbye, which is always sad. All in all, vacation was wonderful because I got to see my family.

our vacation was ten days. We went to aunt Stephanies's house for 2 days, then to a family reunion for 4 days, then back to my aunts house for 4 more days. I had a lot of fun at the family reunion. I played pool, ping pong, bump out, and a lot of other fun games. At my aunts house we went to byu and provo canyon. I also got to see how to train your dragon 2. vacation was awesome.

day camp

day camp was 3 days, from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM. I made a kite, a copper whistle, a pulley system, a catapult, a wood play sword, and a 2D sailboat. I did BB shooting, archery a swim test, swim, arts and crafts, STEM (science, tech, engineering, and math), a obstacle coarse, volleyball, and a relay water race.

A while ago my family and I had the opportunity to be sealed in the temple. I love my family, and I am really glad I get to be with them for eternity. The Gilbert Temple is beautiful, and I am glad I was sealed in that temple. I have a testimony that I will be with my family for the rest of eternity. Words can't describe how wonderfully happy this makes me. We had to wait for a bit in another room, and managed to calm Ivy down after leaving Mom. But once we were back at the altar, and she saw Mom, she wanted to hold her and nothing else, so she starting crying. As we walked back to the children's room, Ivy's cries were echoing around the quiet halls. Once she was back to Mom, she held onto Mom and wouldn't do much else. Once we were back outside for pictures, she was happy to walk around. My Deacons leader said that some people in the temple told him how there was a sealing lat week that the baby was crying the whole time.

I got to get sealed in the temple a while ago. it was awesome. I felt the spirit while i got sealed and after. although most of the time i was waiting, i still enjoyed it.

Yesterday one of our friends passed away. It was an unexpected, sudden death even though we knew she was sick. She had colon cancer and when she was diagnosed during her routine colonoscopy it was already stage four. She was currently on another round of chemo/radiation and she got a secondary infection which took her rapidly. She didn't seem weak or close to death the last time we saw her which wasn't that long ago. Jared, the girls and I went over to see her right before her current round started. My girls loved her and immediately felt comfortable in her house. They basically took over. We talked for a bit and Jared helped her with some technical issues. She provided Jared and Amelia with all the pizza they could eat. She has always been so generous and kind to us. She planned Jared's work baby shower before Amelia was born. She celebrated our children and enjoyed seeing the pictures of our day to day life. Basically yesterday morning Jared was told she had days to live, was sent home from the hospital, wasn't up for direct communication or visitors and by 8 in the evening she was gone. Jared had the thought when we were at her house and leaving that this could be the last time we see her alive. I know death is part of the plan and something that we all have to do, but I am still going to miss her even though she wasn't a daily part of my life. We have a green, fuzzy baby blanket from her that always brings my thoughts to her when I pick it up or hand it to one of the girls. My heart hurts for her daughter and husband. She will be missed.
