Maxwell got his glasses yesterday.

Yesterday morning, Maxwell checked with me that it was Thursday. After I agreed, he said, "One more week until I get my glasses!" Again I agreed with him. Much to his delight and my surprise, Costco called us at 10:30 and said his glasses were in. So we got ready and went to the mailbox first. He had been specific about which Costco we had to purchase his glasses from. It was the out of the way one that is hard to park at and hard to get out of once you park. He insisted we go to the same white Costco we purchased Xander's glasses from. I didn't even know there was a white Costco.

Elijah's Summative

It was in December 2008, the week before Christmas. First the third and fourth graders sang a whole bunch of patriotic songs in the multi-purpose room. Elijah really loves music class and loves singing with all his heart. Unfortunately we have no pictures. Jared had uploaded the pix from the memory card to the computer. This involves taking the memory card out of the camera. I didn't even think to check if the camera had a memory card on our rushed way out the door.

They get the nerdiness from Jared's side of the family I swear . . .

And I have proof. Who out of Jared and I ever wears glasses or has ever worn glasses? I have never even worn contacts although I am pretty sure if I had to my eyelids would win and I would never get the things near my eyeballs. Here we are finding that another one of our children is quite blind and we had no idea. Eventually his prescription will be a +6 but due to the drastic change of going from 0 he is starting out as a +4. So after a few months of Maxwell regularly complaining, "my head hurts." I started thinking maybe I should take him to the doctor.

See what I am talking about.

Xander's Summative

Xander's Summative

The last week of the quarter the boys had their Summatives per usual. The entry is only a month late. Xander's project group for the quarter involved filming a movie about traveling through time. He played the part of a professor who had invented a time machine. I don't think their was any type-casting involved, do you? The night of the summative we attended the "movie premiere". After watching the movie we got to take pictures of our kids with the sets and collect autographs from the different stars. Xander loved being a star and signing autographs. He would seriously pose for each picture.

Temple Light's with the Baileys

Temple Light's with the Baileys

I was taking pictures of Jared and sons and an Elder offered to take a family picture. The Baileys arrived as we were posing so a few of them joined in the shot. The Elder said, "Wow, that's a lot of kids! Are they all yours?" as he handed the camera to me. I seem to get that question a lot more often than Carey when we are together but that is probably just perception. Anyway, I would have been 18 when Jacob was born, pregnant at 17 which is a little early for me. Also there were 5 adults there so why would I get asked if they were all mine. Seems silly to me.

Temple Visitor's Center

Temple Visitor's Center

Jared did not want to sit and relax at home for the entire 2 weeks off of work. He wanted to do something special. Well, it was the last day of the International Nativity Exhibit at the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center and I had promised Xander I would take him before it closed. He picked going to the temple lights and visitor's center for his birthday family activity but with sickness, Christmas, and Stes and Bryce visiting we ran out of time. We did the lights portion of of activity on December 23rd with the Bailey family.

It has been a month.

Hey this is a bit of a downer entry but I am putting it in anyway since it is important to our family history. One month ago a dear friend of our family passed away. It has been described as almost instantaneous. He crashed into the back of a parked truck while riding his bike and broke his neck. His name was Gerry Hickman and he was quite a man. As a family we are friends with his entire family with Xander befriending his son Ryan first, I met Gerry next, followed by his adult daughter, Kate and then I met his wife Jana.

Comet and Angel sitting on my shoulder.

Comet and Angel sitting on my shoulder.

Angel is the blue bird. Hopefully we are accurate in determining she is a girl. I guess Angel is considered a gender neutral name though. They really will sit on our shoulders together for an extended period of time. Both of them sat on my shoulder while I thoroughly cleaned and dismantled their cage. Angel can still fly somewhat. We only clipped her wings a bit to keep her from getting too much height. Poor Comet was mishandled at the pet store. One of his blood wings was clipped and he can't fly at all as they were clipped too short.
