Rite of Passage: Sex Education

Elijah has been going through the notorious subject of sex education at school this week. I'm sure it's not officially called sex education, but if it walks and talks like a duck.....

Sara started preparing him last week with warnings of awkward topics at school and evening conversations with his parents about what he's learning. Sara would say that he can speak with just dad, just mom, or both mom and dad. She always over-emphasized the "just dad" option.

My boys love me, they really do.

I had a fantastic Mother's Day this year. I don't really like to be celebrated, but I had determined that I wanted the boys to make dinner, dessert, and clean-up. Jared was a really good sport at this even though I didn't go for his suggestion of frozen pizza. Since pizza is Jared's favorite food, we eat it regularly.

What a fun weekend!

Jared thinks I left the impression that he purchased my phone off of the black market. I am sorry if you thought that. Jared was very careful to do everything he could as a consumer to make sure that was not the case. I was more concerned that he was carrying a large amount of cast to purchase the phone and the seller could have claimed it was stolen after the purchase or Jared could have gotten knocked on the head and had the cash stolen.

Catching Up Again.

I am going to start with Friday, April 23 since that is a day I meant to record in the blog. Jared and I drained and scrubbed out our pool completely. We now have a clean pool for anyone that comes to visit. After a week, we went and got our chemicals tested. I was excited to find out that I had, on my own, managed to get all of the chemicals at target levels. Jared and I rented a submersible pump from Home Depot. We saved over $60 by doing it ourselves. It did keep us up late though on Friday night.

I have a wiggly tooth.

i have a wiggly tooth. it just came out. when it came out I got another wiggly tooth.

The fam

So as Jared tweeted, Maxwell has his first loose tooth. When I told Jared he responded that he already knew because Max told him. I wondered first why he didn't think that would be important to share with me and second, why he didn't explain things to Maxwell because Max didn't even know.

I found the clean-out! Yay for me!

Jared and I have redecided that we probably want to drain our pool this year. This week will be cool enough and water rates go to summer highs starting in May. Jared jokingly told me that I should get a rake out and look under the landscaping around the house to find the clean-out that eluded us the first several times we searched for it. He started out with shovel but I reminded him we didn't own a big shovel yet. This morning I got out there again- this time with a hand-trowel and gloves to see what I could see. I also used the Internet, but the clues found there weren't applicable.

How we got a dog.

I am sure you are all dying to know. I didn't want a dog. I am clearly not a dog person. I would be a cat person except for all of the hair and stinky litter boxes.

Jared has been searching for months at the different rescue organizations for the perfect dog for our family despite my protestations. We found a mini-pin we wanted but that rescue group was psycho. Before the adoption could happen they wanted to do a home visit and see if we were a good fit for the dog. They also wanted way more specific information then we are comfortable providing anyone.
