Jared has OCD

I am sure of it. How often do you see this blog layout change?

On to the purpose of this entry. I never wrote about my Mother's Day which was awesome! Jared got me a dozen Dunkin' Donuts which fortunately for my thighs I shared with the fam. I love donuts. It is one of my favorite foods even though it can hardly be classified as a food. Donuts are way tastier than roses by the way and depending on the season flowers are always a risk with my allergies although sometimes the risk is worth it. I wondered how Jared could possibly top the few straggly wilted flowers that Phillipe and Jared purchased for Summer and I (to share, no less) for Valentine's Day. Well he did it. Saturday Maxwell and I went on a date while Jared, Xander and Elijah went to the Dbacks game. Jared has a huge guilt complex about leaving Max and I behind but one of the Little League teammates ended up with 3 extra tickets that she offered for free to any takers. Basically they had received free better tickets from a friend and were willing to give up their extra tickets for free. She is a lady after my own heart. Anyway it was an awesome opportunity even if we had to divide in 2. Maxwell and I had fun. We went to see Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler. I knew the reviews weren't stellar but it was the family fare that was playing at the cheap theater. Maxwell had picked to see Hotel for Dogs but at the last minute and much to my relief he switched to Bedtime Stories. I really, genuinely enjoyed Bedtime Stories. It even had a few jokes that went over kids' heads that weren't crass.(Jared, the old fogey, first used this word a few years ago. It makes me giggle on the inside to use it ever just thinking of Jared using it.) The movie was a good, clean family film. Afterwards Max and I went to Villalpando's, one of our favorite local restaurants. Great Mexican food, fair prices, great, quick service, and quick seating even for large parties. Although for their sake I hope it gets busier. If you have come to visit us from out of town in the last year we probably took you there. I finally solved some of the mystery of Villalpando's, I saw this little girl sleeping in one of the booths and I asked the host if that was his daughter, he responded that it was his niece and I learned that it is a family run business. I am pretty sure everyone who works there is related but I love helping out family businesses. Anyway it is a great restaurant over on Chandler by the I-10. We should go there when you visit. If you live here you should ask me how to get there.

On Sunday aside from the donuts Jared also prepared dinner. (with a little help from me) I found these delicious steaks at Costco and purchased asparagus, bread, and artichoke tapenade. Jared grilled the steaks, asparagus and bread and it was delicious. Elijah had purchased a D-backs t-shirt for me at the game. Xander got me a gecko window sticker for the car and Max got me a candle. Jared purchased me a baseball glove. Xander picked out a card with a picture of a penguin wearing sunglasses, high heels, and a purse. On the inside it reads, "Happy Mother's Day to one Cool Chick!" Xander picked out a card from Elijah that reads, "To someone who's been like a Mom to me: Happy Mothers Day with Pugs & Kisses!" with a picture of a pug puppy with red lipstick on. I thought that it was funny that I am actually his mom not like his mom.

And Maxwell's card was quite silly with a cartoon drawing of a kid and the words "Mom, admit it! I'm your favorite, aren't I?" Really not surprising at all that Maxwell picked out that card. Since we are alone together as buddies and partners nearly 100% of the time he really believes that he is my favorite even over Jared.

The boys drew tons of pictures for me and cut out several hearts and it was a super nice day.
