Einstein

On the home front -- as of right now, we're still on (we think).

The home was inspected last week and it checked out fine; however, my honey-do list won't be lacking any honey-do's. The only snag was that the inspector couldn't inspect water heater or the heater. The seller's agent, whom I'll forever refer to as Einstein, didn't get the gas turned on in time. Finally, today, after many calls and a week of no response, Einstein finally responded and said the gas should be turned on tomorrow. Hopefully, the inspector will return free of charge to finish the job.

I am very skeptical of Einstein. In a previous blog entry, I pondered whether he's a brilliant but devious mastermind or just a moron. The jury is still out, but the circumstances surrounding our on-again, off-again relationship with this house lead me to believe the latter. Einstein has conversed with both our agent, Terry, and his assistant, Kelli. The current theory is that Einstein didn't put it together that these two agents work together and represent the same buyer: us. When Kelli followed up with Einstein on the status of our contract, he told her that they've decided to go with another offer (ours)! We were all very, VERY surprised a few business days later when the executed contract showed up in Terry's mailbox.

To recap: we were competing against ourselves and it was a very close competition! First we were winning -- then we took the lead -- but in the end, we came back and kicked our butts!! It's a good thing went double-down on our earnest money!

For the record -- and Sara can attest -- I don't throw around words like moron, dumb, idiot, or stupid lightly. These words are considered "bad words" in our house. Everyone makes mistakes; you can learn something from everyone; nobody knows everything: I preach these things to my kids often. However, Einstein is doing his best to prove me wrong. The amount of mistakes he's made is honestly unbelievable. To me, it's more believable that he's a criminal mastermind.

The Theory of Relativity

I can see from your adventures with this new house that you have had the opportunity to carefully examine who's on first...

I didn't want to make your head any bigger than it already is, but your description of "Einstein" and his total understanding of the current market and potential buyers was pretty funny.

I am glad you inherited my sense of humor! Love you all, Mom (aka Grandma)

Jared's internal debate is

Jared's internal debate is much kinder than mine. I think he is an idiot or a jerk, but I am betting on total moron. (And Jared does give people the benefit of the doubt generally speaking.)
