Oh What a Day!

Well, we had to do the house inspection today which is kind of a boring with exciting undertones way to spend Christmas Eve. Jared (with a bit of my help) needed to measure the house so we could get started on figuring out the carpet. We will probably head to Lowe's on Saturday. We were at the house for over 3 1/2 hours. We officially start our 10 day period tomorrow. Our last day will be the 3rd of January.

The inspection went well. The house is in great condition (at least according to all of the men) for its 22 years of age. The roof, commercial grade heater/air conditioner, pool, and 50 gallon water heater are all newer additions to the house. It is hard for me, as a woman, to hear the list of things that need to be fixed on the house. Most everything was minor and there is nothing structurally wrong. The list is just a bit overwhelming for the female in me. Jared, Terry, and the Inspector all felt everything was minor.

Our bank is working on getting the appraisal done and we are waiting for word from the Termite Inspector. Because the inspection was in the middle of the day we are having Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow and the boys and I didn't start making cookies until 5ish. We made cream cheese chocolate chip toffee cookies that totally rock. We all ate a bunch before a dinner of manicotti, caesar salad, and focacia.

We completed our annual Christmas box. Thanks again to my sister Cameron for making that for us. The boys enjoy going through the symbols of Christmas and I enjoy seeing the half-eaten candle every year. The boys checked out the lump of coal Jared received one year. The boys opened their pajamas and put them on. We watched the Nativity. We ate more cookies, drank hot chocolate with marshmallows and made the traditional plate, hot chocolate, and note for Santa complete with directions on how to eat cookies. I tried to get the kids to add some vegetables for Rudolph but they all decided he just eats jolly foods like Santa. Jolly foods are the sugary foods as seen on Elf. We then watched Small One and put the boys to bed.

Despite the boring Inspection during the middle of the day I think Christmas Eve went pretty well. The boys are looking forward to such annual traditions as playing Wii without it cleaned up and breaking through the wrapped doorway into the living room.

Jared and I are pretty tired tonight so we will see how tomorrow goes. Jared and I tease about doing the yard work tomorrow, but I think we should enforce a Christmas napping period. I am tired just thinking about it.
