New Year's
So for New Year's I made a resolution to eat more cheesecake this year. So far I am doing a great job of that. I have had more cheesecake than I had all of last year. I like to keep my goals realistic. The Bailey Babes and Anderson boys have been begging for a non-emergency sleepover for quite awhile. Todd and Carey were generous enough to offer to take our boys for New Year's Eve. Jared and I were able to go on our first date in a few years. This was a lot of fun. We went and saw Avatar which despite all of its James Cameronness was the most beautiful movie ever. Stunning, seriously. We went and ate at BJ's Brewery at the mall next to the movie theaters. It was a fun, different place. We were so full from that, that we couldn't get dessert, popcorn or sodas. That's okay because my cheap self cringes at purchasing movie theater treats. After the movie we swung by Dairy Queen for blizzards. I had a buy one/get one free coupon. We each got medium sized blizzards and since we were still full from dinner we couldn't finish our blizzards. We enjoyed each other's company. We enjoyed not being awakened super early in the morning by our 3 boys.
We went and picked up our boys late in the morning. All of them had managed to stay up until 1 am or so. Last year only Xander made it until New Year's so I was surprised. We headed over to Pioneer Park because we wanted to see what it was about and never had been there. There were a few more crazies and homeless people there than we prefer to be at the parks that we play at so we just got out of the car and read about the history of Mesa. It is amazing how much of Arizona history and Arizona present day ties back to the Hohokum Indians. Mesa pioneers rebuilt some of the abandoned canals of the Hohokum. Mesa probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for the canal infrastructure of the Hohokum.
We read about the Honeymoon Trail. It was a 3-6 week wagon trip for couples looking to be married or sealed in the St. George temple.
The boys were cranky, tired, thirsty so we stopped at Circle K got some drinks and drove home.

Maxwell will reduce global warming by not playing the Wii because it gives off heat. Well, he won't play THAT much.
Elijah is fasting for Haiti.
Xander wrote a note to some teasing girls at the soccer field that read, "Girls whatever. Boys forever."
Jared did not like Elijah's solution, but it was good for a laugh (on the inside).
