The door is green . . . the walls are a greened gray.

The kids were in the pool as early as I would let them yesterday. It was freezing. Elijah and Max stuck it out for a really long time. I had told the boys before they got in that they could only get in once for the day. I also told them they should wait for the afternoon and warmer temperatures but they were too excited to wait.

Something I have learned about painting: painting door jambs takes forever. Also, the worst part of painting is cleaning the rollers after you are done for the day.

The boys and I are going to go see Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel today. I tried to talk them in to The Princess and the Frog but there were no takers.

Jared and I decided and convinced the boys to do wall stickers instead of crazy, bold paint colors or wallpaper in their room. After Jared blocks the horrific pink (it will probably take 4 coats of Kilz 2) we will paint their room the same greened gray of the rest of the house.

Be sure to sand the door

Be sure to sand the door jambs really well or do what I do and rub them down with liquid sand paper. If you do not your paint will look lovely but very soon peel away. Sadly, I learned this the hard way. I had painted a whole room and the door and window jamb and the closet doors for your Grandma and Grandpa Jensen. This was my first paint job and I really did a great job BUT a week or two later, the paint started to peel off in big plastic like sheets from the doors and jambs. What a disappointment! It was twice as time consuming to do the redo! Love you Sara

painting tip

Hey Sara! The place looks great! Just thought I'd pass on a painting tip! If you wrap your paint brushes and rollers in syran wrap at the end of the day and then put them in the fridge until the next use they are supposed to be good to go as if you painted with them only minutes before. Saves you time and hassle. Hope it's helpful and happy painting! Congratulations on the new house, that is super exciting! Much love, Erin
