Weekend Fun

After I.L.P.s and for a special treat for the boys we went and got Jared and went to Five Guys for lunch. We then drove up to Spinners a disc golf store and afterwards hung out at Jared's work for a bit.

After dinner Thursday night went to let Jared and Xander try out their new discs at Paseo Vista. Xander's new dragon mid-range is awesome and throws so much better than his shark mid-range. At least he thinks so. We could only do a few holes since it was getting dark but all in all it was a good time.

Early Friday morning Jared, the boys, and the Daisy went disc golfing. It is more of an early morning sport here in the summer.
Friday we went to the Openshaw's to let the kids try out their pool for the first time. We had pizza for lunch and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. It was great. The kids then played an unevenly matched game of their rules "Capture the Flag" with webkinz. Elijah and Brooke were on a team and the other three were on the other team. We then decided to play a game adults against kids. The kids won the first round amazingly enough since "already" rules kept appearing out of nowhere. We won the second round. Also we played ping-pong, me only a little bit. I am not a big fan of balls flying toward me. The kids also jumped on the tramp.

When we got home, the boys were excited to find Quin outside so they played until 9:30ish.

Saturday morning we drove up to Fountain Hills for Fe's Baby Shower. It is so cute to see her 8 months pregnant. Afterwards we went to their new residence. I helped Fe go through the stuff she received to assess her needs. Yesterday I emailed her a list of the items she needed before the baby gets here with links to what I was talking about specifically. I am going to try to drive up to the hospital when she is having the baby.

Bob is really nervous as he is of that generation that didn't attend births. He missed the birth of Amira. He had tried to be there. He was working in the U.S. at the time and went to Phillipines when the doctors initially thought Fe was due. While he was there the doctors decided she wasn't coming for another month. He had to return to work and a few days later Amira was born. He wasn't able to purchase a flight until Amira was 2 months old because they were sold out.

Fe is also nervous since she doesn't have any family around. I still can't believe they are having a baby and they are still shocked as well.

Afterwards we went to the Diamondback/Cardinal game. I wore a red shirt which Jared felt was too in between the teams' colors for his liking. He always threatens not to take me when the D-backs play the Cardinals. I really like Haren though and it was his night to pitch so I wanted the D-backs to win. It was also his bobblehead night and sadly we got there too late to get free bobbleheads. Some strangers took pity on our boys and gave them their two. They then proceeded to hunt down another one to give us and even came back to the stands to give it to us after the game. We were sitting and waiting for the clear out so we could more easily catch the train. The boys enjoyed hot dogs, popcorn, and corn dogs. Jared and I enjoyed hot Italian beefs and we all enjoyed Gordon Biersch's garlic fries. Since we planned ahead I was able to bring water which is a huge money saver (and back breaker). Water costs a lot once you get to the Stadium. Unfortunately Jared can't razz my dad about the win (and the overall series win) since the d-backs have sucked for the last two years.

Sunday was filled with church and swimming. It was a little too chilly for me though. I enjoyed teaching The Ten Commandments to my class. Some lessons (like this one) I could use more time; other weeks we finish way too early and don't have anything more lesson related to talk about.

One funny thing about the boys and Jared is that they beg me to come swimming with them but then in the end they are starving and want dinner now and don't have the patience to wait for me to get dressed and then cook dinner. Happens every time and it continues to crack me up.

Today the Baileys are coming over for fun and swimming. This week we will go to the library, do grocery shopping, lots of swimming, and hopefully make some Pinewood
Derby cars. Thursday is Elijah's birthday. He will be 10! Friday he is having his first friends party in a long time. He even made the invitations himself. Saturday the kids have a Primary activity. This should be a super fun week.
