Baby Week
It has been all about babies this week. My friend Fe went into labor early Wednesday morning so they called me on the way to the hospital. I wasn't going to drive Jared to work that day but because of the exciting news I did. The boys did an excellent job hanging with Amira in the waiting room. I rubbed Fe's back for a bit before she finally got her epidural. We had to leave to pick up Jared from work and after getting pizza for dinner, Elijah and I headed back to the hospital. The boys had Scouts so we could only hang for an hour or so.
We were able to bring Amira home with us though. They didn't want her in the room during delivery for some reason. I think they want grandchildren in the future. Amira, Max, and I hung out. Max and Amira played Wii and then we started to watch America's Got Talent. About 10 minutes after the boys got back we got a call that the baby had arrived. Amira and I went to the hospital so she could meet her baby brother. She was excited and surprised when I offered to take her there. She was nervous about the unexpected but seeing her with her baby brother was magical. I could see the wonder and love on her face.
Poor Fe was exhausted at this point for some reason. But the hospital in all of their kindness had plans for her other than sleep. It was almost midnight by the time they let her try to get some sleep. It is one of those hospitals where they want you to keep the baby with you at all times even if they put you in a room where your husband can't stay the night. I think that is torturous and wrong. Hospitals should keep the baby in the nursery as much as mom wants and let her sleep after a hard labor. After delivery they wanted to move Fe which took a few hours. Once we moved to her new room they had a million things that had to be gone over before she could sleep. It was ridiculous. She even had to sign stuff. Her nurses are really nice and competent and she even lucked out and got a Filipino nurse that speaks Tagalog. The next morning when the boys and I came by I asked how she slept and she said she slept good from 3-5 am when they left her alone for a bit.
Bob and Amira had left for home before 10 pm since they had left their dog unattended all day. I stayed on until nearly midnight. I wish I could have stayed the whole night but I had to drive Jared to work the next day.
After the boys dentist appointments we headed to the hospital a final time. I had to bring by Amira's stuff and I wanted to see the cute little baby again. After a bit they said the boys could come in. Elijah really didn't want to share the baby once he got to hold him. They offered to keep the baby for the Becks. Xander was scared to hold the baby but was happy when he did. Maxwell enjoyed holding the baby. I took pictures which I posted on Facebook. After the hospital we went and took Jared to lunch at YC's Mongolian grill. He didn't want to eat cafeteria food another day and we finished at the hospital at about his lunch time.
By the time we got done with lunch it was 2 1/2 hours to when we would have to be back to pick Jared up. So the boys and I hung out at Wal-Mart and Target. There wasn't a McD's with a playland anywhere near. While we were at Target I got a text from Stephanie. She wondered if Jared had relayed any special news to me. I asked if she was pregnant. And she is with another girl! The boys again offered to take a baby off of someone's hands. They are generous like their mother. I accept dessert and baby donations. Anytime. We are so excited and I am hoping to swing it so we can still be in town after Alyssa's wedding until the baby comes. Before we knew the news I was telling Jared I would like to stay in Utah through the new year but now I have added reason why we should. It will be about if he can swing it with his work which we won't know until we get closer to December.
Congratulations Steph, Bryce, and Andie. We can't wait to meet Russon Baby Number 2.
Thanks!
We really hope you guys can be here when we have her! I will try my best to have her early ;)
I am so happy for Fe and Bob
I am so happy for Fe and Bob and Amira. How wonderful you could be there so much of the time to give family support. You are such a good soul Sara. I am grateful to call you my daughter. In the picture you posted of Elijah, I could see his delight with the baby. AND how wonderful that Stephanie will have another baby girl. Congratulations to everyone!!!
